Facilities
WSG offers a wide range of facilities to support operations, training and R&D. The Washington Security Center for Counterproliferation (WSCC) serves as the centralized point to plan, coordinate and direct all WSG activities and liaison with Government clients. The WSCC provides maximum integration of our core services while managing and controlling three supporting centers throughout the U.S. WSG also conducts some of our services at other facilities including universities throughout the U.S., temporary leased facilities and mobile programs that are conducted at Government locations including military bases.
Our primary facilities include:
- Dulles Training Center
- Washington Field
- Eastern Training Site
- Western Training Site
- Florida Training Site
Dulles Training Center
Co-located with the WSCC, the Dulles Training Center (DTC) is a state-of-the art facility dedicated to training organizations chartered with conducting pre-attack counterproliferation operations and operational support. With more than 10,000 square feet, DTC provides academic and situational training and exercises for counterproliferation field operators, analysts, targeteers, operational planners and managers. The training area has infinitely configurable spaces, including moveable walls that allow customers to experience multiple training scenarios in a short period of time. Training items may include those found in state and non-state actor facilities.
- Wide spectrum of working foreign and domestic scientific equipment
- Simulated and real chemicals and materials
- Everyday office, residential, and laboratory items used as props
- Changeable “atmospherics” such as noises, sounds, light changes and smoke to simulate a number of operating environments
Washington Field
Located approximately 30 miles from the Pentagon, Washington Field is a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved “private” (non-public use) airport (FAA Airport ID: 70MD) located in Charles County, MD. The 80-acre facility includes a 2,000-foot runway and a variety of aviation support structures in an area close to our nation’s capital and within easy driving distance from a number of federal organizations chartered with preventing the use of WMD. WSG submitted a formal request to the FAA and subsequently gained approval to change the name of the airport from “Parks Airport” to “Washington Field.” WSG is registered with the FAA to manage the Airport. Washington Field is a “private” airport and any and all flight operations must be approved in advance and in writing. Public use flights and commercial operations are not allowed and will not be approved, tie-downs and hanger space is not available for rent/lease, and fuel is not stored at the airport or available for sale.

The Eastern Training Site (ETS) is located in southwestern Pennsylvania and supports a variety of training and exercises. ETS offers multiple classrooms for small groups/teams, a lecture auditorium that seats up to 200 students, a large bay for staging and equipment storage, an evasive driving area, an off-road driving area and multiple firearms ranges.
- Onsite airfield with four hard surface runways: 3,458’ x 100’, 2,404’ x 100’, 3,458’ x 100’ and 2,404’ x 100’
- LifeFlight, MIRLS, and precision approach path lighting system (PAPI) on three runways
- Alternate airfield consisting of a 3,900’ hard surface runway with MIRLS and PAPI
Western Training Site
The largest private tactical training and full mission profile rehearsal facility in the U.S., the 125,000-acre (195 square mile) site offers Government organizations the ability to train and rehearse in complete privacy. Located approximately 85 miles from an international airport, the facility is self-sufficient and includes on-site lodging and dining.
- Multiple targets/scenarios for non-state actor clandestine chemical, biological, and radiological facilities, including research, production, weaponization and enemy mission planning facilities
- Terrain similarities to Afghanistan and Pakistan
- Altitude from 4,300 to 5,400 feet above sea level
- Ranges from pistol shooting ranges to .50 caliber
- Challenging interior roads and unlimited off-road terrain for multi-vehicle tactics and mobility training
Florida Training Site
The Florida Training Site (FTS), is located in Northern Florida approximately 60 miles from Jacksonville and contains over 15,000 acres. This location serves as a specialized tactical training site for the Washington Security Group (WSG) and provides specialized infrastructure for tactical shooting, vehicle mobility operations, vehicle defense, and night operations with a special emphasis on night vision enabled mobility operations. An off-site location approximately 30 minutes away includes a small but internationally respected purpose built vehicle research test track which supports ongoing research, development, testing and evaluation of traditional and non-traditional DoD vehicle operations led by WSG. The Washington Security Group uses this facility to conduct initial research as well as conduct post-event/attack analysis, reconstruction, and develop lessons learned and recommendations to prevent further injuries or loss of life to US servicemembers.
